Park Service Names Gorge Trail In Thanks To Arrowmen

In the closing ceremony for week 4 of SummitCorps Friday, New River Gorge National River Superintendent Don Striker announced the name of the trail completed by the Order of the Arrow youth volunteers — the Arrowhead Hike and Bike Trail.

In praising the Scouts’ work, Striker called the project “transformative,” noting that the massive effort had attracted the attention of superiors in Washington who were moved by the Arrowmen’s cheerful service.

The Scouts celebrated the end of their hard week of work, putting just as much energy into their fun. The closing arena show included videos, comedy, a bit of dancing, and awards presented to National Park Service staff for their assistance in the project.
